      <description>&lt;p&gt;Kalid, from &lt;a href="http://www.betterexplained.com" target="_blank"&gt;BetterExplained.com&lt;/a&gt;, has posted an excellent &lt;a href="http://betterexplained.com/articles/a-visual-guide-to-version-control/" target="_blank"&gt;explanation&lt;/a&gt; of the hows and whys behind version control.  The article takes an agnostic approach to versioning, but its examples will be more beneficial if Subversion is used.  Kalid&amp;#8217;s explanation also contains the definitions of words commonly used in the versioning nomenclature.  I like this.  You may read Kalid&amp;#8217;s article and think, &amp;#8220;Yeah, tell me something I don&amp;#8217;t already know.&amp;#8221;, but it is written in terms that your &lt;a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pointy_Haired_Boss" target="_blank"&gt;PHB (Pointy-Haired Boss)&lt;/a&gt; might understand.  Spread the good word.&lt;/p&gt;</description>

      <description>Hi Ryan, thanks for the mention! Yes, the article is geared for the newbie who's learning about version control for the first time. I find that most tutorials aren't very visual yet diagrams can help explain the concepts pretty easily.
